As a Greek, I experience first-hand the power of human connection within Greek culture. The magic it holds in finding ways of touching your heart, in making you feel welcomed, in warming its way behind your guard allowing you to open up, to laugh at your awkwardness and that of the other, to share your personal feelings, lifting with compassion the reservations that hold you back.

I want to share the tolerance with which this culture accepts our imperfections, the maturity with which it embraces our weaknesses, the pride with which it acknowledges our strengths, but most importantly, the sheer joy and delicious empowerment it provides in allowing us to be human.

Our Philosophy

Humanism is the beauty of this culture;
the respect that people place towards being human,
being in touch with their human elements
as the source of happiness.

This human experience reverberates in the philosophy of life originating from the Classical Wisdom of Greece. The Greek word for human is anthropos (“άνθρωπος”), deriving from the phrase “ano throsko” (ἄνω θρωσκω”), vaguely translating to “looking forward and upright”. The word describes the concept of a human nature that strives to rise beyond the limitations set by nature itself.

This is one of the most accepting philosophies of the human condition; revealing an acceptance of the humanly imperfect that is as strong as the desire for the human ideal.

The beauty of classical wisdom is the recognition of an empowered human; one that can reason and make wise choices, fulfilll potentialities and find true happiness (eudaimonia, “
ευδαιμονία“)

Classical Wisdom reveals a very extrovert and positive attitude to life with a deep appreciation for the experience of living, not as a mere fulfillment of pleasures, but as a journey in search of meaning and purpose. A journey of personal discovery that values the wisdom (Sophia, “σοφία) we gain through our experiences and that allows the development of our virtues (our inner qualities), our personal value and self worth, at its Best.

This journey demands attention to our inner qualities; to those attributes of our character that underlie our experiences and define the quality of our lives, giving it meaning and purpose. Those that guide our choices, give direction to our actions, shape our dreams of the future and mark the quality of our relationships. Values giving us hope and courage when everything else seems to fail; filling us with pride and confidence when our efforts eventually prevail; pushing us forward with passion, inspiring us to create when there is seemingly nothing to ignite the imagination.

You will discover that your journey to happiness is a magnificent adventure of self-discovery.

It is an exciting exploration of your feelings, thoughts and beliefs, a cultivation of your body, mind and soul. Classical Wisdom will show you how life is what you make of it and you can make it meaningful and fulfilling, because life is not merely what is, but what it can be if you actively participate in its making.

Society today has left Classical Wisdom to rest in marble sculptures, paintings and time-stained scriptures; leaving us to passively gaze into something that once was. The thoughts and ideas of the past shouldn’t remain in the confines of a book or museum, instead we want people to surge in the zeal for life that lies in Classical Wisdom; to feel, to participate and to engage with the wisdom the great thinkers have left behind. We want to pull the chasm between classic and contemporary thought to a close, to inspire you to experience, feel and practice the values of the ancient Greek thinkers in your everyday reality. This is why we have created the Tales of Wisdom, designed with the hope of bringing Classical Wisdom to life, and sharing the beauties it carries towards the act of being human. Each Tale has a specific meaning and purpose, expressing a singular classical idea that offers a fresh perspective on how you come to view life – every minute of every day of living.

Let yourself wander, tread and play, sing and dance in freedom and honesty.

Share your thoughts and feelings, inquire, contemplate, envision and make new relationships with yourself and others; enlighten your mind and soul with real experiences and your palette with wholesome real foods; climb the mountains and soar in the sea; create with paint, clay, wood, words and stone; participate in your life’s making, come in touch with the immense strength that you hold within you and discover the value and self worth that is your merit of being human.

Take on and become an ambassador of this philosophy of life, of the confidence that: if we live our life to its fullest, engaging in the struggle of our human paradox, with dignity and measure (metro, “μέτρο”) we can find true happiness. Laughing in dealing with grief, feeling fear in being bold, finding inspiration in the seemingly irrational, arguing only to find relief, showing compassion to find strength, seeing the brightness in the darkness of a cloudy day, connecting with others to find your true self.
